The Columbia Art History Initiative (CAHI) is a new stand-alone issue of the Columbia Journal of History that is focused on assembling high-quality articles from undergraduate students around the world in the hope of furthering discussion in the field of Art History. The mission of the CAHI is to strengthen the connection between the two fields of History and Art History through supporting interdisciplinary discussion by publishing two issues a year: one in the Winter and one in the Summer. The CAHI is currently seeking submissions for its first edition scheduled to be published this Winter 2018.
We are currently accepting submissions for our Winter 2018 issue.
Please read our guidelines below.
Submissions should be double-spaced in Microsoft Word .doc or .docx format, follow the Chicago citation style, and include footnotes as well as a Works Cited section. Although we will consider submissions of any length, the majority of published pieces range from 1250 to 2000 words (5 to 8 double-spaced pages), excluding references. Longer papers should be shortened to fit this page length recommendation before submission. We will not consider papers that do not adhere to the stylistic requirements outlined above.
The submission must not have been previously published in any student, professional, or academic publication. If you have also submitted your piece to another publication, please inform us if you have been selected for publication by their team. We do not republish papers.
Authors must be willing to commit upon acceptance to an editorial review process (~1 month) in which our editors will prepare the submission for publication.
Please include a cover page with the following information in the same document as your paper:
- ~100-word Abstract
- Motivation for writing the paper
In addition to your paper, please include the following information with your submission email but not in your document:
- Full Name
- Email Address
Please email your submission with the subject line “CAHI Winter Submission” to firstname.lastname@example.org by the deadline of December 1st, 2018.
